the mission
The Healing Entertainment Foundation was formed by a team of leaders in the entertainment, technology, and philanthropic worlds, in order to grant the gift of freedom to those who are physically constrained to the anesthetic environments of hospitals and healthcare facilities.
We execute this mission by gifting hospitals with cabinets of fully-preconfigured VR headsets, as well as the training and protocols necessary to sucessfully and routinely deploy them to their patient populations. Patients approved for the protocol are given daily 30-minute VR sessions, in which they may choose from a variety of best-in-class experiences. These include virtual travel, entertainment, and meditation apps.
The headsets are pre-configured to bypass all the normal lengthy login and setup requirements of consumer VR... in general, a patient will be fully immersed and engaged inside the virtual world within mere seconds of placing the HMD on their head.
On a qualitative front, we gift patients with a profound means of escaping their pain and the confinement of their hospital bed, and of engaging their senses fully in soothing, emotionally positive experiences. This brief respite from the anodyne hospital environment is scientifically proven to both accelerate healing, reduce length-of-stay, and to improve the long-term outcomes of medical procedures.
